On October 29, 2024, within the STEAM-USM Center, took place the Workshop “STEAM skills for economic growth” – “Organize and carry out Multiplier Conference at the local level to spread out STEAM skills for sustainability responsibilities relevant to local business challenges”.
The event was attended by teaching staff, students and representatives of the business environment – USM stakeholders:
– 137 students from the specialties “Business and Administration”, “Marketing and Logistics”, “Finance and Banks”, Hospitality Services, Tourism and Leisure”;
– 7 teachers, including members of the Skills4Future project group
– 12 representatives of the local business environment, entrepreneurs / managers (“GBS” SRL, “Sarks Agency” SRL, “Construct Solution” SRL, “UltraLimit” SRL, etc.) and representatives of non-governmental organizations (the Wine Association of the geographical region delimited “CODRU”, Association of Business Women from Moldova – “AFAM”).
They had the opportunity to discuss and analyze the economic challenges generated by the domestic business environment. The purpose of the Workshop was to identify STEAM skills that can contribute to solving the economic problems determined by the local business environment in the context of the sustainable, collaborative and innovative development of the national economy.
The works of the Workshop gave us the opportunity to interact proactively in an interdisciplinary environment and to achieve a knowledge transfer with colleagues, experts and practitioners in the real field of economics. In this context, the STEAM skills instilled in students, based on the integration of knowledge and skills in science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics, will certainly prepare them to face these challenges in the labor market.
This event was organized and held within the STEAM-USM Center of the Skills4future project – “Developing and improving the STEAM skills of students and teachers for curriculum innovation and sustainable development of higher education institutions and local businesses”, ERASMUS-EDU-2022-CBHE – STRAND-2.
